Recently I published a tutorial on how to remotely deploy Adobe Reader to numerous computers. Today I’d like to do a follow-up tutorial that illustrates how to remotely update your existing Adobe Reader installations.

Instead of deploying the updates manually, you can use Remote Update Manager, which polls Adobe Update server—or the local Adobe Update Server if setup using the Adobe Update Server Setup Tool (AUSST) —and deploys the latest updates available on update server. This task will run the Adobe Remote Update Manager for Windows. This will attempt to update all Adobe (CC and CS6 and possibly others) products on the system silently. This could cause a lot of network traffic and take a while if there are many updates to install. Use of an Adobe Update Server is recommended for slow WAN links.

This tutorial assumes you have Adobe Reader 11.0 installed on target computers. If you do not already have Adobe Reader installed, you may follow this tutorial to remotely deploy it using BatchPatch. Then the instructions below can be used to update your Adobe Reader 11.0 installations to the latest/current version Adobe Reader 11.0.14.

  1. Obtain the installation media for the 11.0.14 update. At the time of this writing the installation media can be downloaded from Adobe at the following link: Adobe Reader 11.0.14 Offline Update Media. Download the update titled ‘Adobe Reader 11.0.14 update – Multilingual (MUI) installer.’
  2. After downloading the update file (I saved it on my BatchPatch computer to ‘E:TempAdbeRdr11014_mui_updateAdbeRdrUpd11014_MUI.msp’) the deployment is very easily created by launching ‘Actions > Deploy > Create/modify deployment.’ Then in the Deployment form, simply select the .msp file using the file browser button. Optionally, you may give the deployment a title and then click the >> button to save the it for future usage.
  3. The only thing left to do now is actually execute the deployment, which we’ll do by clicking ‘Execute now.’ On my test computer it only took about 20 seconds to apply the update. Upon successful completion BatchPatch displays Deployment: Exit Code: 0 (SUCCESS), which you can see in the screenshot below. That’s all there is to it!
Remove the Adobe Application Manager and install the Creative Cloud desktop app.

When you download and install an Adobe Creative Cloud app, the Creative Cloud desktop app downloads and installs at the same time. On older operating systems, these processes were handled by the Adobe Application Manager (AAM), which was replaced by the Creative Cloud desktop app.

If you’re using Mac OS X 10.7, Windows 7, or later and still have AAM on your computer, AAM automatically updates to the Creative Cloud desktop app when you download an app.

AAM does not auto-update to the Creative Cloud desktop app, or you receive the following error:
“Browser doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (AAM) isn't associated with any program.”

Note:

An older version of AAM (version 7.0.0.414) does not auto-update to the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  1. Remove AdobeAAMDetect.plugin from HD Library/Internet plug-ins.

  2. Imovie for mac os x 10.6.8 free download. Sign in with your Adobe ID and password, and download the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the following location and rename OOBE to OOBE_old.

    Mac os high sierra download size. Even so, macOS 10.13 High Sierra is only compatible with Macs and MacBooks running at least OS X 10.8. Once macOS 10.13 High Sierra has been downloaded in its entirety, a new window will open.

  2. Sign in with your Adobe ID and password, and download the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Solution 2: Reinstall the Creative Cloud desktop app using the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.

  1. Double-click Programs and Features, select Adobe Creative Cloud, and click Uninstall.

  2. Follow the instructions after clicking the Adobe Cleaner Tool link to remove the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  3. To download and install, go to Creative Cloud desktop app.

Avg Update Manager

  1. Go to [hard drive] > Applications > Utility > Adobe Installers.

  2. Double-click the InstallAdobe Creative Cloud icon.

  3. Follow the instructions after clicking the Adobe Cleaner Tool link to remove the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  4. To download and install, go to Creative Cloud desktop app.
